How To Create Shoppable Pins On Pinterest
Want to reach an even BIGGER audience? This quick workshop will teach you how to create a shoppable Pin on Pinterest WITHOUT having to link any shop or install any tricky Tags.
What is a Shoppable Pin?
A Shoppable Pin on Pinterest is a pin that you click in that takes you RIGHT to the product to purchase.
Typically SP are created by Pinterest after you create a business account and link your shop. There are a lot of hoops to jump through, though, and sometimes your 'merchant' status gets denied.
Although there are a few platforms that integrate, it's a huge mess to get them to work and this method works for ANY shop platform.
But there really is no difference between a SP and a regular pin. They both link directly to the product.
Why are they important?
People who are on Pinterest are already there for a reason.
They're looking for something.
Pinterest considers itself a search engine.
If someone searches for something and one of your products comes up and they like it, you want to make it as easy as possible for them to just be able to buy it right there.
Here's my hack.
You're going to love this.
Step 1 –
I'm going to assume you've already set up your Pinterest account like I asked you to. You should have your Profile set up as well as a couple of boards already started. Hopefully you're in there pinning stuff daily.
Step 2-
Create a Board that is labeled with your Brand or your shop's name.
OPTIMIZE this board's description area by adding in important keywords and phrases.
Such as: Handmade organic soap and skin cream lovingly make in Virginia.
In that simple description we've hit WHAT we're selling and WHERE it's made. Local searching is HUGE and a lot of shops miss grabbing those keywords and hence loosing that marketing opportunity.
Step 3 –
Edit your product photos in Canva.
Since Pinterest is a VISUAL search engine, this is super important.
Make sure you go through and add little price tags and seals to your products. I have a couple of samples linked HERE that you can use.
Ultimately, you want something that's going to look like this:
Step 4 –
Add each product to the board.
The pin title should be your product name.
The description will obviously be your product description. You'll have to edit some because Pinterest limits the number of characters you can post.
WHICH IS WHY the image of the Pin is so important.
Make sure your adding the link in the Pin to the link to that item in your actual shop.
Step 5 –
Step back and let it go.
Continue to interact a little, Pinning things to your own boards. This helps engagement and people repinning your pins will often come looking at your Profile.
That helps get your shop and your products in front of more people.
After a while, you'll start to see your shop pins starting to get repinned, and that is basically someone ELSE promoting your shop FOR YOU.
What's Next?
Pinterest without paying for ads is a long game.
Sit back and wait, honestly don't expect much to happen for a while.
You'll eventually be able to see what products are getting the most Pins and what people are looking for.
My friend Karrie is running a Pinterest Ads Workshop that will totally be amazing, and I recommend you check it out.
